The Patagonian spider crab (or King Crab), also called Magellanic spider crab, austral spider crab, and Chilean spider crab, is a crustacean that inhabits the seabed of the cold waters of southern South America.

It inhabits the coastal waters of the southeastern Pacific Ocean, in the waters of Chile especially from Valdivia to Cape Horn.

  • Type of extractive fleet: Industrial and artisanal.

  • Characteristics and distribution of the resource: Benthic crustacean, which inhabits depths close to 600 m. and is distributed between regions X and XII.
  • Main lines of production / presentation: Cooked-frozen, whole gutted, meat and claws, preserved.
